Iga Mawarni@JakJazz

The name has never been registered in my memory, and yet right after the first song that was started with a rhythmic sound of a strange percussion device that also played in an unusual way, Iga Mawarni and friends who performed at Amphitheatre stage on Saturday night at JakJazz quickly impressed me with quality of the vocal and music. To me it was the best show of the night, at least among those that I saw.

It was the person on the left wearing the hajj white cap who opened the lively performance with the sound of his unique device. It sounded like the bass drum, but could also produce lighter voices.

Iga sang a song that she said was composed together with her late elder brother, Dodo Zakaria. The song was quite familiar in my ears, and I did like it, I just couldn't remember what the title was. Dodo's name is familiar to me, but his sister is not.

Indra impressively played a solo bass while Iga sang This Masquerede, one of my long time favorite songs, other than Nature Boy.

Iga successfully electrified the packed audience, made them stood up from their comfortable seats, clapped hands and sang a long with her. In one of the most attractive acts, Iga sang a whole song backed fully by thundering sound of percussions. It was really entertaining.
