Al Makmur Tanah Abang Mosque is located at Jl K.H. Mas Mansyur 6, in the area of Tanah Abang. Al Makmur Tanah Abang Mosque uwas built in 1915 by Syed Abu Bakar bin Mohammad bin Abdurachman al Habsi after a year before the land with a cemetery on it was bought by him.
Al Makmur Tanah Abang Mosque was built to replace a very simple prayer house sizing only 12 × 8 meters which was built in 1704 by the highborn of Islamic Mataram Kingdom led KH Muhammad Asyuro.
Much of construction cost of f 35,000 for the mosque that was originally sized 44 x 28 m was covered by Syed Abu Bakar, who was also a founder of the orphanage Daarul Aitam. The design of the mosque was done by a Dutch architect. In 1932 and 1981 the mosque building was expanded again.
Al Makmur Tanah Abang Mosque has two short towers with green colored dome-shaped roof. The dome base has rectangle shape that tapers at the top and hence resembles a cupola a bishop hat.
